Sean Kevin McNicholas

Sean McNicholas is the Chief Executive Officer of SSA Group, a more than 50-year-young Colorado company, built by family, for families.  In this role, he leads the company, furthering the mission of more than 85 zoos, museums, aquariums, and other cultural attractions across the country, with best-in-class and first-in-the-industry services: retail, admissions, dining, and more. Sean is especially proud of SSA Group’s Colorado partnerships with the Denver Zoo, National Western Stock Show, Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, Royal Gorge Bridge, and the US Olympic & Paralympic Museum.  Outside of SSA, Sean is a supporter of Regis Jesuit High School, Boys Hope Girls Hope, and is on the Board of the Saint Joseph Hospital Foundation.

Sean’s passion for his Irish roots was passed down from his parents, Kevin, and Mary McNicholas. He was raised in a household where St Patrick’s Day was the primary holiday celebration of the year, followed by Christmas. Sean is a proud Irish Catholic and graduate of Regis Jesuit High School. 

At home, the Irish spirit is alive, when you enter the McNicholas’ foyer you are greeted with Irish welcomes. Sean and his wife Audra are dedicated parents, you can find them horseback riding with their three young children, cheering on their two daughters at the Celtic Steps Dance School, and feeding the family’s horses, dogs, cats, chickens, and pig. 

As a Denver Native, Sean understands, first-hand, the incredible opportunity an event like the St. Patrick’s Day Parade presents to local businesses, organizations, and the community. The parade has been a main event for Sean and his siblings growing up, and now for his children- it is anticipated all year long.
