More about our 2015 Queen Colleen

Maureen McGinty

2015 Queen Colleen

Maureen, a Colorado native, is a 27 year old burst of energy and enthusiasm and she is sponsored by McGinty Enterprises.  She is our 2015 “Emerald Mile” Queen Colleen for the 53rd Annual Denver St. Patrick’s Day Parade which is known as the largest St. Patrick’s Day Parade west of the Mississippi River. Maureen grew up close to where her dad did graduating from Alameda High School and went on to study at Red Rocks Community College. Maureen, the youngest of three, has a large family who are all very close and are all excited to support her in this journey.

She currently works at The Skills Den which is a one-of-a-kind family owned company that provides competency evaluations for Home Health Aides and Personal Care Workers. All Colorado Department of Public Health & Environment, and Medicare skills are evaluated for competency. When Health Care workers arrive at the lab, they should be prepared to perform every skill required under CDPHE and Medicare Conditions of Participation.

The Skills Den also has competency programs including Skilled Nursing Facilities, In-Patient Hospice, and RN/LPN programs for Home Health & Skilled Nursing. The dedicated nursing teams perform competency evaluations on facility employees in their work environment. This process ensures all skills necessary for superb job performance are witnessed and documented.  Additional information can be found at or on their Facebook page at The Skills Den.

Maureen McGinty is the daughter of Pat and Mary McGinty. Her sponsor, McGinty Enterprises, is her father’s company that specializes in producing one-of-a-kind woodwork pieces. Owned by Patrick McGinty, the company is located in Denver and is known as a Colorado institution providing specialty woodwork, custom furniture and one-of-a-kind working projects to the Metro area for over 30 years.  His work includes residential as well as commercial. Images of his work or additional information on the company can be found at

Patrick, also a Colorado native attended Denver West High School and found his love of woodworking while in high school.  He honed his woodworking talent in many local custom furniture shops.  He opened McGinty’s Enterprises in 1983 and for over 30 years specializes in high-end woodworking with exotic woods from around the world.  Patrick enjoys his work emensly but enjoys having his tight-knit family around to spend time with.

Maureen has strong ties to Ireland: her great grandfather was from County Cork and her father was born on St. Patrick’s Day.  She is an avid fan of the Broncos, Nuggets, Rockies and anything Colorado.  She enjoys spending time with her family and friends, music reading, movies and is passionate about children. The Denver St. Patrick's Day Parade has been a family tradition and now she gets to serve as our Queen Colleen.

This year, as Queen, some of Maureen’s duties will include leading the annual St. Patrick’s Day parade and acting as the spokeswoman for the Denver St. Patrick’s Day Parade Committee (DSPDPC)  throughout the year leading into the parade. Later this year, she will attend the DSPDPC Christmas party and emcee and crown the 2015 “Little Shamrock” event early next year.  The 2015 Little Shamrock’s (boy & girl) will also take part in the parade day activities. Her reign will end next year when the 2016 Queen Colleen is crowned at the annual Queen Colleen event.
