The 55th Grand Marshal is a senior partner at Lewis Roca Rothgerber Christie LLP. In 1997, Mr. Lyons was appointed by President Clinton to succeed Sen. George Mitchell as Special Advisor to the President of the United States and Secretary of State for Economic Initiatives in Northern Ireland and the border counties of the Republic of Ireland. He was responsible for numerous economic initiatives in support of the peace process, including Aspire Micro Loans for Business, the first micro-enterprise loan fund in western Europe. Additionally, he served as the United States Observer to the International Fund for Ireland ("IFI"), a diplomatic post to which he was appointed by President Clinton in 1993. Mr. Lyons is the recipient of the prestigious Learned Hand National Award of the American Jewish Committee, the St. Thomas More award from the Colorado Catholic Lawyers Guild and the inaugural Archbishop Charles J. Chaput Leadership Award. In 2002, he was awarded an honorary doctorate of laws by the University of Ulster "in recognition of his service to the people of Northern Ireland and the cause of peace." He is currently the Honorary Consul for Ireland in Denver.
